Here is my Story on how I got my Ragoll J.R.
My Siamese A.J. just past away, at 12 yrs. I missed him so much, I went advertised for another Siamese. I went to the local pet shoppe and left my name and phone #.
They called me a week later, A.J. two weeks. They said they had a Siamese mix male cat, just came in. My mom and I went to look at him, as soon as I saw him I knew he was a Ragdoll.
The lady that had him had him given to her from a friend that went on a trip. Her boyfriend was allergic to him, so she took him to the pet shoppe, then I came along and adopted him. He was 6 mos. old, will be 6 yrs. old in Aug. I was petting him and playing with him and found fleas on him, so I gave him an organic flea bath and no fleas for 5 1/2 yrs. His name is from A.J., the J for A.J. and the R. for jr. I paid $79.00 for him b/c he was 6 mos. and they didn't realize what he was.
He loves to fetch, plays with my blk calico, likes to get upon my lap and love me. I'll email a couple of photos. He is worth every thing. He has the loudest purr of any of my cats, and very soothing.
I just love him, he loves yogurt, if I'm eating some yogurt, he comes and begs me for mine, even after I give him his.
So you think he is a Snowshoe? Well I saw a Ragamuffin that was marked just like him, he was a blue color, the bib, mitted paws, except for the white on his nose, the Ragamuffin had a solid color face.
He is begging me for his yogurt.
What ever he is I love him and he has the Siamese and the blue eyes. He is the largest kitty i have ever had. He is large boned, weighs 20 lbs.
He is floppy and my blk calico, really flops , she flops down when she lays down, flops herself down on my lap, I've had her since kitten age, for her on a friends ranch. A real busy body. Her name is Izzy B. Short for Izzy Bizzy.
Ok, that would be ok for me. I purchased him as a Siamese mix,
I knew when I saw him he was more. He is so adorable, I love him to bits.

For the past few weeks Sparky has started yowling in the middle of the night. Sometimes his kibble bowl is empty but mostly he wants to play and be chased around. I do play with him and he gets a big brushing before I go to bed. Not sure if this isconsidered spring fever. Any thoughts?

My cousin Katherine just got a ragdoll kitten named Mimi! She’s an adorable and friendly new addition to the family, and we’re all excited to see grow.
The only problem was that Katherine and her family has only ever owned dogs, and they were completely stumped on how to find the best kind of cat food for their new member. I suppose it was a happy coincidence that I recently started working at FindTheBest, an unbiased and data driven reviews website that has a cat food comparison. Katherine used it to search and filter out different brands by life stage, ingredient information, special conditions, and primary protein source.
Compare Cat Food
Needless to say, Mimi loves her new food!
Mopsie is my 10 1/2 year old rescue kitty. She's such a sweetie! I have had cats most of my life, but this is the first ragdoll that has owned me, for truly that is what happens when you acquire a cat.
My question, and I hope someone has an answer, is: how do I break her of waking me 6:30 a.m. every morning?? Evidently her previous ownee was an early riser and Mopsie was fed promptly in the wee hours. I don't mind so much on weekdays, but sometimes on the weekends I stay up later and need to sleep!
Don't tell me to go to bed earlier. My husband is the other Love of my life and he is a night owl. I try to stay up with him as late as I can so we can have quality time together.
I have tried ignoring her, but although she normally has a meek voice she can be quite vocal if she wants something. And the other morning I made the mistake in my sleep of sticking my foot out from under the covers. She nipped my toe to awaken me, which I did with a start! Another waking habit she has is to paw at the door. It doesn't matter if I leave it ajar for her to come and go as she pleases, she does it anyway, sometimes shutting the door in the process.
Please give me some suggestions. I am afraid I am losing my sanity with my lack of sleep. This has been going on now for 5 months, ever since we took her in and I am sllep-deprived.
Thank you in advance for any help you or your readers might give me...

8 weeks ago we rescued a Ragdoll, we called him George (after our Grandfathers!) We soon realised we had a sick cat and the vet confirmed that he had Cat Flu, was underweight, gum problems and ear mites! The Cat flu will always be there, but with a stressfree life the symptons are manageable. He has his face washed every day and like any little boy he does not like it! but with a good brushing he is soon purring again x we love him to bits

My great grandfather was a cat breeder. When he died recently at 97 years old I took his last litter of kittens. In it were two ragdoll cats. A boy and a girl. My grandmother, also a cat lover found a home for the kittens but I wanted to keep the male ragdoll for myself. He was special because he had a what looked like a mustache and white paws that looked like socks. He also has piercing blue eyes that just blew me away. Now, I am not only a cat person, I'm a gear head too, so I named him after a famous car engine. The Hemi. Hemi is now four years old and he fits in the family perfectly. I've had many cats prior to Hemi but none of them have been quite like him. He likes to roughhouse (sort of like a dog), drink from toilets, and beg for various food from the dinner table. Hemi has never been "talkative" either. He usually makes a squeeky-like noise instead. But believe me, when he wants attention, his meowing is loud. But Im not complaining. Another thing I hadn't seen a cat do before was how he crosses his arms while he sleeps. Its hard not to laugh when you see it!, but it must just be a ragdoll thing. :)

My cat loves the smell of mint, doesn't matter what its from. He will try to lick bengay or icy-hot off of you. One time my moms purse was on the counter, we left the room for 10 minutes. Came back in to find my moms purse on the ground and my cat with a ripped piece of double mint gum in his mouth.

I picked BayBay from a picture that one of my young WV cousins had posted of her kittens. A month later, we brought her home to Georgia, and she discovered the bird cage. It has been her favorite "hang-out" spot ever since. Poor birdies.

We have three cats, all adopted from our local shelters. Our big boy cat, Tucker is our funny one. He is super relaxed and likes to strike funny poses that look like yoga moves. Take a look to see what I mean. We posted these pics and our readers post funny pet pics every weekend on www.managedmoms.com because pet parents are moms and dads, too!

My litterbox set up consists of a large wooden box that my dad and uncle made for me which houses two jumbo litter pans, The front comes off for cleaning. I use World's Best Cat Litter. The scoop and bucket are on the left side of the big box, out of site. The mat is to catch any litter from their paws as they exit.

My little soul mate was named Eve. She came to us by accident. Back in early Spring of 1993, we would go over to my parents house to visit almost every week-end with our little boy. We would sit out in the backyard. One day these little kittens came to say hello to us and they would sit in the grass at our feet. One was a black and white short hair male, named Adam and his long haired Calico sister, named Eve. My husband, son & I became very attached to them. They were owned by the this caretaker couple from Italy who were attending to my mother's sick next door neighbor. They adopted these kittens from a local shelter. They let the kittens roam the neighborhood which my mother's neighbors did not like. In August 1993 my father went into the hospital to get his pacemaker changed. The procedure was too much for him and he passed away. When we came home from the hospital very early that morning, I went into the backyard to cry. Adam & Eve came running up to greet me. They crawled into my lap, nuzzled me and fell asleep. I had to find out if I could adopt these two little kittens from this Italian caretaker couple. During the same time period, the next door neighbor passed away too. I realized this couple would be leaving and would take the kittens with them because they would be leaving their job. I had to have Adam & Eve. I was able to get them and take them to our home. Adam was very outgoing and took to his new home right away. Eve was sweet and gentle, a bit more reserved and took a little longer for her to come around. However, once she felt secure she never left my side. She was the most beautiful cat I've every seen. Her markings were incredible. She was my shadow, my soul mate. She reacted to my every sound and mood. Wherever I was in the house she was next to me. We lost Adam to diabetes at age 15 yrs. Eve lasted a little longer. She become blind at about 12 yrs and later had bad constipation that eventually took her at almost 17 yrs. When we took to the vet to put her to sleep she still didn't want to leave me. She never took her eyes off me and fought the whole process. But she was so sick she couldn't even stand in her box to relieve herself. I still feel guilty having to let her go but she was so weak and sick. I still feel her presence around me all the time. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about her or call her name. I miss her so still! I was privileged to own Adam but especially own Eve.

Macavity, or Macky as he was knows, was my uber special kitty. I had other cats before him and since him, but he was the one that made me love the big, fluffy boy cats. When I got Macky, I already had three cats, and one was only about four months old. A friend's cat had four kittens and only one was left alive due to an immature mother cat. My friend needed to find a home for this five week old kitten immediately and I volunteered to take him. He was a tiny, grey, squirmy and flea-infested creature and was scared beyond belief. I brought him home, gave him two flea baths, wrapped him up in a fluffy towel and gave him gooshy foods. That night, he crawled up on my bed and fell asleep in the crook of my neck. That's where he slept for the next 5 months. My then four month old cat became him best friend and body guard and protected him from the older two cats. Everyone that saw him said "He's so TINY!" and promptly fell in love with him. He didn't stay tiny for long.
As the years went by, he grew into an absolute behemoth. He most resembled a Maine Coon cat in size and physical attributes, such as the tuffs of fur between his toes and his lynx fur-tipped ears. He was also very solid. As he aged, he outgrew Sheba, his bodyguard and protector, and would follow her around like a love sick puppy. She grew tired of him, but allowed him to clean her ears and generally be her love slave.
Everyone loved Macky and he had quite the following. People would send me anything that looked like Macky: stuffed animals, Christmas ornaments, t-shirts, earrings, kitchen towels, and a plethora of other items. He was my baby and would follow me around the house. My mom thought that he knew that I saved his life and this is why he was my baby. He used to find a corner of the house and howl until I would call his name. Once he heard me, he would stop howling and run to me. If he wasn't on my lap, he wasn't happy. He was my 16 pound lap warmer.
In the Fall of 2002, I noticed that he was losing weight. I took him to the vet several times, but no one could figure out what was wrong. I then got a referral to the local university's vet center and they did a bunch of tests. What they found was a large tumor that was growing in his chest cavity. It was the size of a grapefruit and was not removable. They sent me home with him and told me to love him until its time to say good bye. He started spending more time hiding and not really eating. There was even an evening where he came to me and looked me in the eye and just stared for about three minutes. It was like he was saying "Mom, it's time to go." It wasn't long after that night that he could no longer walk. That day, we brought him outside to the garden and let his look around and sniff the air. We then took him to the university's vet center and said goodbye. It was the worst part of pet ownership, as so many people know.
In 2007, we got our three Ragdoll boys. People that knew Macky were glad that I got another big, fluffy boy again. Artemis is certainly a similar form factor to Macky in weight, color and fluffyness. While I love all my boys tons and bunches, Artemis' similarity to Macky keeps him close to my heart. He is the new 16 pound lap warmer and his purr reminds me of my Macky whenever I hear it.

Seaba was a ragdoll/maincoon mix. He truly was my best friend. I had him for 17 wonderful years and then he came down with cancer. The day I thought I should have him put down he died in my arms with his baby blanket. I have another cat (texodo) Cylide that is my best friend also. I had Seaba cremated and when I went to the humane society to pick up his ashes I seen this pure breed Ragdoll that was surrender. Well my Cylide was very lonely so I thought we would give him a chance. Well they are best of friends now. He has been with us for 1-1/2 now. Well he became sick and didn't know what was wrong. He could not poop. Well it was magacolon. That was an expensive testing but he is all but worth it. So now he is on meds and doing very well. His name is Gabriel. When you talk about the purring I know just what you are saying they are very loud and I love it. So all in all I am very blessed to have two wonderful cats but sure do miss my Seabacat.
