Rag Doll Kittens

When it is time to add to or start your Ragdoll family the question of whether or not to adopt a kitten or rescue an older Ragdoll always arises.  Those who rescue older Ragdolls are true godsends, but nothing is cuter than a beautiful little ball of fluff that is a kitten. 

If you decide on a kitten then you must decide whether it will be a show cat or not.  This will help you decide on a breeder versus other avenues to locate a kitten.  While not all kittens from breeders will be show cats some breeders are better known for show cats then others.

Kittens and older cats can also be found at local shelters or rescue organizations if you are willing to look.  Call or go online to see if any Ragdolls are available.  Remember Ragdolls are often mistaken for other breeds.

No matter what you decide to do as far as a cat or kitten make sure your home is ready for the newest addition.  Have a cat window bed for your new friend to relax in and maybe a lotus cat tree to scratch on.  A few cat snacks are never a bad idea either. Enjoy your new addition.

We also have Ragdoll rescue cats available.  We recently had a two Ragdolls cats surrendered by their owner because of his poor health - we would love to find great homes for these Rag doll kittens. 

What goes on in the mysterious minds of our best feline friends? When we got our Rag Doll Kittens, we bought all sorts of cat toys online and even bought a couple of cat climbers to allow them to play to their hearts content.  However, we found that by understanding our cats behavior we could connect with them on a deeper level.  This book was our portal to understanding their minds and creating a closer bond with our best friends and understand all of their quirky attitudes.

One of the best, if not the best cat toy , is the Yeowww! Banana.  All of my family's Ragdoll Cats have loved them, from one year old Charlie and Trigg Rag Doll Kittens, to six year olds Murphy and Caymus, and even my the eldest cat Rags loved these toys until his final days at the age of nineteen!  Caymusis especially fond of the Yeoww Banana and loves to hoard them and lay on top of them whenever he can. 

You can see some Caymus videos here as he plays with the bananas.  As you can see, Caymus is a big boy who rarley missed an opportunity to enjoy Cat Snacks or a good meal.   It is hilarious to watch the kitties bunny kick and play with these toys with so much energy and passion.  You can also watch some videos of Rags just before his nineteenth birthday playing with the banana here.  I buy these toys as gifts for other cats as well, as I have yet met a cat who does not go absolutely nuts for these things.  Additionally, these toys are easy to order online through Amazon which makes the gift giving process that much easier. 

You may or may not have read the New York Times article about Catios, entitled, "‘Catios’ Bring Cats Outdoors".  It talks about creating an outdoor space that allows your kitty to be outdoors, but also allows them to be safe.

So in other words, it's a patio for a cat or a Cat-io.  The catio involves a screened in porch or deck. 

Cat owners have come up with some very creative ways to let their kitties enjoy the great outdoors, but at the same time allows them to be safe and protected.

Kate Benjamin, who we know from Moderncat.net, also has a website about Catios, which you might want to check out to see more of how you might be able to set up a catio for your kitty.  Kate's catio is the one pictured in this blog post.
